I honestly meant to get back here yesterday and post, but I got busy visiting with Emily. Typical teenager...it's not often she's home in the evening and actually wants to sit and visit with us. I took advantage of that!

Here's my photo that is actually for yesterday:
I think this is my very favorite building in town. It's an old Lutheran church that's been boarded up and unused for years. The plaque on the building states it was built in 1928. I don't know what it is about this building that I like so much, but I do love it. It's overgrown on the sides of the building. The parking lot is cracked and weeds are growing in the cracks now. But...it's gorgeous! I have told Lee several times that we really need to find out who owns it and see if it can be bought. Can you imagine living in it? I would so do it...in a heartbeat! All of the stained glass windows have been boarded up from inside so you can still see them and, surprisingly, they are all still intact. To live here would be awesome, but, since we're planning on selling the home we currently have (and everything else) in two years to become full-time RV'ers and travel around the country...it doesn't make much sense to buy this lovely old church, does it? I do hope it finds a wonderful owner someday and is brought back to life.

Thanks for visiting and we'll see you later with today's photo!

47, 48, and 49 of 365

I'm back again. I think I'm gonna have to face the fact that it's almost impossible for me to process, upload and blog every day. That's ok. I'm not going to beat myself up over it. As long as I'm taking my photos every day and getting them here every 2 or 3 days; I'm good! Although...I did sort of cheat on a couple of these photos. I'll explain in a minutes. First, I want to thank all of you that visited my blog and left birthday wishes for Emily. She was absolutely thrilled with all of them.

Now, back to my cheating. I do hope you're not all tired of hearing about Emily's birthday. Just bear with me a little longer and I'll move on. Two of the photos below were actually made this past Sunday (on Em's birthday), but I really wanted to include them in this project.

Day 47: Emily LOVES pancakes...specifically Lee's pancakes. She doesn't think mine are so great. Could that be because I hate pancakes; therefore, I don't make them very well. Back to the photo...Lee make pancakes for Emily's birthday breakfast. When she asked for seconds, he decided to make the ones in the photo below. That explains why they're not on a clean plate. Sorry about that!
Cute, huh? I'm sure he would've loved to have perfected them, but she was full after eating these!

Day 48: Not much to say about this one except that it's kinda funny. Em really likes those big chocolate chip cookie "cakes" so that's what she got....from the grocery store bakery. Yeah...I know...I probably won't win any "Mother of the Year" awards. Lee and I picked out this cookie cake, brought it home and the first thing Emily said when she saw it was, "It says Happy Buttday!" You decide!Day 49: Technically, Emily took this next photo today at school and emailed it to me. I want to sincerely apologize for the quality of the photo. It was taken with her Blackberry and she said the creature wouldn't stay still. A veterinarian clinic (I think she said) brought two baby kangaroos to the school today to visit the Ag Department. While they were there they took the kangaroos around to visit some of the other classrooms. The visited Emily's Chemistry class. She did take a couple of videos that turned out great. The kangaroos were soooo cute. Anyway...here's the photo (bad quality and all).
Ok, guys! That's it for today. Hope you enjoyed them and I'll be back tomorrow. Seriously! I've got errands to run in the morning so I know I'll get some photos around town. Ready to see more of my town?

Until tomorrow....

Sixteen years ago at 4:24am this morning, my last baby was born. Today, in place of that darling baby is an amazing young woman. Today's photo is of the flowers that her dad (who lives in Georgia) sent her. Sorry you only get Emily's arm in the photo, but she hadn't had her shower yet and said she looked crappy. LOL! Personally, I don't think she's ever looked "crappy". We have some plans for her today, but, since she reads this blog, I can't tell you about them right now.

So...on that note...I'll end this today by saying:

Happy Birthday, Emily! I hope you have many, many more.
I love you to the moon and back.
Mommy

Happy Valentine's Day!

You know, I had another photo I had taken and was going to use today, but my plans had to change. My youngest child got her first job today at Academy Sports! To say she is excited would be an understatement. She is beyond excited! It's a brand new store and is still under construction. She has her first orientation this Friday and another one later in the month. The store is slated to open the first part of March.

Academy hires a lot of students and they seem to be concerned about them. The gentleman that hired Emily scheduled her to work 5:00pm to closing and then asked her how her parents would feel about her working until closing four weekdays. She told him we would be okay with it as long as her grades didn't start to suffer. He said that she was to come to him immediately if she had any problems with work interfering with school and they would be more than happy to work with her and adjust her schedule. I'm a little concerned, especially since she'll be taking dual credit courses next year, But...she's a good student and I'm willing to give her the benefit of the doubt and see how it goes.

Now I'm off to go burst her bubble and tell her she can't use work as an excuse to get out of cleaning her room!

Until tomorrow...

Day 39 of 365

Emily and I were in Walgreen's this weekend and ended up browsing the aisle with all the Valentine stuff. Of course, I was craving chocolate so we ended up with what became my photo for today. I'm not really sure I like having a huge bag of M&M's that are only red, pink and white. The brown ones are my favorites and I missed them in this bag. These were actually on sale 2 bags for $5.00 so we were forced to get a second bag. The second bag of M&M's are all green and on the packaging it states, "Green is the new color of love". Something to think about.

Until tomorrow...

Day 38 of 365

Last night was Winter Formal. I took several photos of Emily and her boyfriend, Chris, before they left, but the lighting in our house is awful. This one is really the best of the bunch, but I had to do a lot of post processing. We've known Chris for several years now (he's a senior this year) and this is the first time we've seen him in a suit. He cleans up very nicely! Of course, I'm a little biased, but Emily was gorgeous! Emily told us this morning that the dance was a lot of fun. Oh! Her curfew? It was midnight. Time she actually got home? 12:05! We let it slide since they did leave the dance early to go eat dinner at IHOP afterwards and lost track of time. Besides, I think this is the first time she's not gotten home 10-15 minutes before curfew.

Until tomorrow....

I've Been Tagged

I love Chris' blog and she tagged me the other day. Here is the tag.

1. Link back to the blog that tagged me: Chreamp's 365 Images

2. I'm supposed to list six interesting things about me. I tell you, I'll list six things about me, but I'm sure you won't find them very interesting. I'm kind of boring!

With no further stalling...here are my facts:
1. Although I never did, I have always wanted to be a funeral director and own my own funeral home.

2. I can't stand to have my food touching each other on the plate. I won't eat the parts that are touching, unless it's mashed potatoes and corn.

3. I count. I think it's stress related or a little OCD. I'll count the white lines on the highway, holes in an acoustic ceiling, screws on cabinet doors, anything...and then reduce that number down to a number that's divisible by three.

4. I'm a MENSA member.

5. I love old Bette Davis movies.

Now that you know how strange I am, I get to tag five people. Here's who i am tagging:

1. Anne C.
2. Kait
3. Emily
4. Petra
5. Biancka

I'll be back later with my photo for yesterday and today. Got a load of laundry to finish first...LOL!

Blog Award!

Wow! I've really got some catching up to do. I'm not posting my photo in this post since I have other business to FINALLY take care of. I'll be back later this afternoon to post my photo. I still need to do some work on the photo...it turned out quite crappy because of lighting issues.

First, I want to thank my friend, Deb. A while back she gave my blog an award which I'm just now getting around to posting. Sorry, Deb!
I'm supposed to list 5 things I'm addicted to so here are my top 5 addictions:

1. Coffee...strong and black!
2. Photography
3. My laptop
4. Chocolate
5. My morning chats with Deb

Now, it's my turn to pass this award on to 5 of my favorite blogs. This was tough since so many of my favorites have already received the award, but I'm passing it on to....

1. Boise State Mom
2. Jan Mary
3. Dawn
4. Megan
5. Kait

Ok, girls...it's your turn!

My Baby

Yes, she's still my baby even though she'll be 16 years old in thirteen days! I know this isn't the best photo I have of Emily, but I still like it. I can't believe she's about to be sixteen. My gosh...she's a sophomore in high school now and only has two more years before college. Where does the time go?

I love this child so much it actually hurts. She is such a good girl and we are so proud of her. She has given us very minimal trouble (much less than her brother and sister) over the years. She is sensitive, kind-hearted, loyal, insightful, and so talented. She has a gorgeous singing voice that is truly a God-given talent. Emily is just a beautiful person and I feel fortunate that she calls me "Mommy". Emmers...I love you, sweetie!

I don't feel so bad about Lee not reading my blog after hearing from you guys. Seems that several of you have husbands that don't read yours either. I've learned to keep my mouth shut, though. After interrogating Lee about why he doesn't read my blog, guess what he did? Yep...he read it from beginning to end. Big mistake! Let me tell you...that man is pretty defensive about his doctor. Remember the earlier post about Dr. Overn? Well, I got a mini lecture about that post being "inappropriate". He also told me that Dr. Overn does have female patients. I can promise you that I won't be hounding Lee to read my blog in the future.

Just two more things for tonight. Shannon, thank you so much for letting me know I had the wrong year on my photos. I appreciate it very much!

Don't think I'm slighting my other two children and my step-daughter because this post was about Emily only. The other kids are grown and don't live at home so we don't see them as often. The last time I saw my other two children was Thanksgiving and we saw my step-daughter at Christmas. We won't see any of them again until summer, but I may cheat a little and post the most recent pics of them so I can introduce you.

Until tomorrow...

More Mexican Pottery

I really want one of these. This guy is about 5 feet tall and would look great sitting in the corner of my front porch. The cool thing about him is that he only costs $65.00! Hmmm...Lee, if you're reading this, Valentine's Day is coming up and I really don't need chocolate!

Speaking of Lee...I asked him this morning if he reads my blog. His response, "No." WTF?!? How can he not read it or at least look at the photos? Do your family members read your blogs? I know that if any of my family members wrote a blog, I'd be reading it every day just because it was family. I'm just sayin'...

No pottery pics for February 1st. I'm headed in a different direction and I feel a rant coming on. As Hank Williams, Jr. says, "Are you ready for some football???"

Until tomorrow...
